"Living Today" | Colour Blast

Hi fellow Colour Blasters

I am so thrilled to have been asked to join the wonderful Colour Blast Design Team for 2018-2019.  I have followed the amazing team of designers on the team for a long time and love using the product when I get to play with it..... and now I do on a very regular basis.

For my first creation for Colour Blast I wanted to do a 12x12" layout showcasing the gorgeous Artist Inks in my kind of colours - bright yellows and oranges.

To start my layout I covered the area that I was going to apply my Artist Inks to with some Heavy White Gesso. I really love this product as it dries so quickly which is great for me as I am such an impatient crafter.

I wanted to create a layout that matched the photo of my niece wearing her sunnies last summer holidays so chose the Colour Artist Inks in Citrus and Cider.
Using the dropper I added droplets of both colours along the diagonal and then using a brush blended them across the page. Next I used my heat gun to dry the inks off.

Once my page was dry I then took a matching orange ink and stamps several images over the artist ink and around the page to add another texture and feature to the page. I also add some splats in the Colour Shimmer Spray Tangareen Dream.

Using one of my many many stencils in my stash and the Snow White Colour Paste and added another layer to my page. I think the Snow White colour paste is my absolute thing EVER!!! I love how once dry the backgrounds colour show through.  So so so cool!!

Now that my background is done, I then had fun putting it all together with embellishments and flower clusters.  Using embellishments from Charms Creations, Flutterby Designs and D-lish Scraps I finished off my page. My title was from Celebr8 and inked in a matching orange ink, the same as the background stamping.

Here are a couple of closeups of my finished page.

Thank you so much for dropping by.
Have a great day and happy creating :)

Mixed Media fun in Pink

I love playing with patterned papers, but I also love using white cardstock.  I guess I can then go crazy with mixed media products, with some of my favourites coming from the amazing Australian owned and made brand Colour Blast. They have the most gorgeous shimmers to a lot of their products and the colours.... WOW!!!

To create my layout I have used many many Colour Blast products for my layout, including Colour Paste, Shimmer Cube, sprays and Embossing paste.

After adding some of the Heavy White Gesso to my cardstock and allowing to dry, I added some water to the Blush shimmer cube and then using a flat head paint brush added it to my white cardstock.  Being impatient I assisted the drying with my heat gun.  I added some splatters using the sprays, but only just lightly.

I do love stamping on my backgrounds when using white cardstock to add some interest and here I have used several different stamp sets from 49 and Market.

Next, using a stencil and the Snow White colour paste I added some dimension to the page. Taking a second stencil, and this time a Distress Ink stamp pad, I added the cross highlights to the background.

I can't help but added some flower clusters around the page :)

I absolutely love the wood veneer diamond cut-outs so I had to add some to my page.  I used some of the embossing powder to them using Versamark ink and heat setting it.  Isn't the shimmer gorgeous.
My 'shine' title I used the shimmer cube in Dusty Charcoal to colour it.

I am so happy to say I have returned to my happy place..... my craftroom.  It is so nice to create what I want when I want and with products I love to play with.

Thank you again for dropping by.  I hope to be here a little more regularly in the future.

See you next time :)

A Return Ticket to a Moment Otherwise Gone

So, I've been missing in action for the last couple of months. But today I thought I would share with you a gorgeous layout that I created using the "Together" range from MINTAY by Karola.  Every collection I have I just love.

For this layout I loved this photo of my little neice and nephew that my brother took.  I wanted to showcase the photo as it was taken, upside down.  I guess the name of the range Together matches perfectly.  Even though there are flowers throughout the range, the gorgeous muted greeny blue tones with the pinks and oranges means I could use it for boys too.

There is one page (inside cover of the paper pack) of images for fussy cutting.  I cut out a couple of balloons along with the floral wreath and layered them slightly off centre of the matching image on my layout base patterned paper.

I added a largish flower cluster ..... I can't help myself :)

For my title I used Colour Blast shimmer cube in Deep Water to colour the Celebr8 chipboard.  The shimmer cubes are so easy to use.  Add a touch of water and taking my paintbrush added the colour.

I really enjoyed putting this layout together.  It is so much fun playing with new paper ranges.  I am quite sure Mintay are on to a winner with these beautiful ranges.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Have a great weekend...... ours looks pretty spectacular with beautiful autumn weather here in Queensland.
