Fabulous | Colour Blast by Bee Arty

Hi Everyone, back today sharing my latest blog post for Colour Blast by Bee Arty.

From the moment I first saw Forever My Always collection from the very talented Fiona Paltridge, I couldn't wait to get my hands on the range.

All Colour Blast products were from the Queen Bee kit.

So for the layout today and the my gorgeous photo I knew my background just had to a white base.

To start I cut my white cardstock down to 11"x11".
After applying a sealing coat of Heavy White Gesso to my cardstock I then apply gesso through the My Lady A4 stencil from the collection but only the flowers. Whilst the gesso was still wet I sprinkled the Sahara Sand Embossing Powder over the gesso and then dried it off with my heat gun.  I added some good heat in several spots to make it bubble.

Once I finished heat embossing the gesso and the cardstock was totally dry I mounted this on to the patterned paper that was the reverse side of the cover page of the paper pack.

Next I fussy cut all the pieces from the Gentle Heart page so I had everything ready to go to create my layering around my photo.  Using my Versamark pen I drew around the edges of a couple of the leaves and then heat embossed the Sahara Sand Embossing Powder  giving a nice glittery edge to the leaves.

 

I blinged up some of the natural cotton ribbon with the Bling Shimmer Spray that was part of the Queen Bee collection kit.

 

To create my cluster I sprayed some book paper with the Bling Shimmer Spray and quickly dried it off with my heat gun.  I die cut one of the Diamond Metal Die using the X & O patterned paper from the collection. I mounted my photo on some cardboard before added the book paper to the back along with the die cut, a paper doily and several of the fussy cuts flowers from the cut apart sheet.

After attaching it to my layout I then added some of the cotton ribbon to the top and bottom undersides of the photo.

Next I used the "Fabulous" chipboard sentiment from the kit and added the gorgeous Sahara Sand Embossing Powder to it, heat setting it. From my stash I die cut the My Flower Metal Die from the collection on some match gold cardstock.

I then finished it off with a couple of the small navy flowers, a little wood veneer sentiment, a flair button, a few little matching adhesive gemstones, and a Charms Creations heart embellishment that I had lightly sprayed with the Bling Shimmer Spray along with a few Bling droplets over the white cardstock.

Happy Moments | Colour Blast

Hey Hey Everyone, Welcome Back.

I have to say that I love how there are so many different colours available across the ranges of Colour Blast products. I am also having fun mixing and matching them and today I have chosen Steel and Singing the Blues.

 

My chosen products for this layout were the Colour Paste, Shimmer Spray and Embossing Powder.

 

I coated my chipboard piece with Heavy White Gesso prior to covering it with the Colour Embossing Powder in Singing the Blues.  It made the colour pop due to having the white base behind the embossing powder.

The base paper for my layout was a very simple and subtle grey patterned paper.  My chosen stencil had a similar pattern the wall that was behind Brian and I in the photo.  The were really funky grey shimmery glass tiles and even though they are a little hard to see I wanted to see if I could bring them into the layout somewhere.  

I think it worked really well using the Colour Paste in Steel.

Once the Colour Paste was dry I then added some 'splats' and sprayed the entire page with the Colour Shimmer Spray in Singing the Blues. The shimmer is just so pretty.

For those of us that are lucky enough to have some of the Colour Shimmer Cubes in their stash, after adding water to the cube, I used a dauber to add colour through another different stencil to add more texture to the background.  The same results can be used using the Colour Shimmer Sprays or Colour Sprays if you wanted to tone down the shimmer on your creations.

 My chosen ephemera and a few other pieces came from one of my 'Just Add Paper' monthly kits from D-lish Scraps.  On the two butterfly, heart and flower ephemera pieces I used the Colour Shimmer Brush Marker in Clear to add even more shimmer to my page.  I then used the marker in Silver to colour up two white flowers as I didn't have any grey flowers and thought this was a great way to add colour.

My large white flower was too stark on the page as it was so I added some of the Colour Paste in Singing the Blues and Steel.

 

 Along with the D-lish Scraps kit pieces I added another gorgeous embellishment set the X and O from Charms Creations.

Below are a couple of close-ups of my finished layout and also up close of the pretty shimmers of the Colour Blast products.

Mixed Media fun in Pink

I love playing with patterned papers, but I also love using white cardstock.  I guess I can then go crazy with mixed media products, with some of my favourites coming from the amazing Australian owned and made brand Colour Blast. They have the most gorgeous shimmers to a lot of their products and the colours.... WOW!!!

To create my layout I have used many many Colour Blast products for my layout, including Colour Paste, Shimmer Cube, sprays and Embossing paste.

After adding some of the Heavy White Gesso to my cardstock and allowing to dry, I added some water to the Blush shimmer cube and then using a flat head paint brush added it to my white cardstock.  Being impatient I assisted the drying with my heat gun.  I added some splatters using the sprays, but only just lightly.

I do love stamping on my backgrounds when using white cardstock to add some interest and here I have used several different stamp sets from 49 and Market.

Next, using a stencil and the Snow White colour paste I added some dimension to the page. Taking a second stencil, and this time a Distress Ink stamp pad, I added the cross highlights to the background. 

 I can't help but added some flower clusters around the page :)

 

 

I absolutely love the wood veneer diamond cut-outs so I had to add some to my page.  I used some of the embossing powder to them using Versamark ink and heat setting it.  Isn't the shimmer gorgeous.
My 'shine' title I used the shimmer cube in Dusty Charcoal to colour it. 

I am so happy to say I have returned to my happy place..... my craftroom.  It is so nice to create what I want when I want and with products I love to play with.

Brisbane Scrapbook and Papercraft Expo Class Creations

Hi Everyone

Well I'm finally back to share with you the creations I made for the classes I taught at Brisbane's Scrapbook and Papercraft Expo.
I was privileged to be asked by Craft Giraffe to takes a class for them, and I loved every minute of it.  All the ladies in my classes were very welcoming as this was my first show teaching.

My creations showcased the 'Gatsby' colour collection from the new Ultimate Crafts THE RITZ Collection.  The other colour collections included 'Theatre' which was softer colours of creams with gold and 'Evening Cocktail' which was black and gold based.

My class consisted of a 1 page scrapbooking layout along with two cards that could be completed at home.

 Best Wishes Card

LAYOUT INSTRUCTIONS

1.     Cut you piece of white cardstock down to 11 ½” x 11 ½” or 29.3cm x 29.3cm.

2.     Taking you geometric stencil, using the Couture Creations embossing paste, add some texture to the left hand side of the page, but not right to the edge.

3.     Whilst the embossing paste is wet sprinkle with the gold embossing powder.  It is up to you, but I didn’t coat all of the embossing paste, and some areas were more heavily sprinkled with the powder than others.  Hold aside to allow it to start to dry.

4.     Let’s cut the papers:

Patterned Paper -
1. Spiral Fan – cut a horizontal line at 3” or 7.5cm (you will have 2 pieces of the same size)

2. Crashing Wave – 5” long x 4” wide or 12.7cm x 10.4cm
3. Damask Paper – 5” x 5” or 12.7cm x 12.7cm

Black Cardstock
1. For Spiral Fan – 12” wide x 3 1/8” long or 30cm x 7.7cm
2. For Crashing Wave – 5 1/8” x 4 1/8”or 13cm x 10.7cm
3. For Damask – 5 1/8” x 5 1/8” or 13cm x 13cm.
4. Cut a piece of black cardstock to use to mat your photo.

5.  Go back to your white cardstock.  Using a heat gun, heat set your embossing powder.  Don’t worry if the embossing paste bubbles a bit as this gives it even more texture. 

6.  Attach your white cardstock to your second piece of black cardstock.

7.  Attach all your patterned pieces of paper to the black card mats.

8.     Inside your kit you will find two black die cuts, the Art Deco columns die (curly) and the Art Deco Tag die.  There is also a piece of black cardstock that has a white backing.  This backing is double side tape.  Using your geometric die from your kit, die cut two of these on the black cardstock piece.

9.     Using the A5 piece of white card we are going to heat foil the Art Deco stamp on to the card with some matte gold foil.  Follow the instructions given by the tutor.

10. From your kit take the floral die cut that has the double sided tape (with the white paper on top).  Cut a piece of gold foil just big enough to cover the floral die cut.  Remove the white paper from the die and gold side facing up adhere the foil to the double sided tape.  Rub rub rub the foil with your fingers (gently) to coat the tape with the foil.  Pull off the foil to show the result.  If foil hasn’t taken in all areas, you can continue to add the foil back to the die until you are happy with the end result.

11. Take the large and three medium size flowers and tab lightly with some liquid glue.  Hold to the side until the glue has gotten ‘tacky’ but not dry.  Take a piece of ‘scrap’ foil and rub over the flower over the top of the tacky glue.  The foil will adhere to the glue. 

12. CONSTRUCTION TIME

13. Remove the backing of the two die cuts that you did using the geometric die.  Adhere to the left side of the white cardstock approximately 1” in from the side.

14. Take your hot foil stamped image and fussy cut.

15. Take your foiled floral die cut, fussy cut hot foiled stamped image and your Art Deco tag die and cut each one in half.

16. Attach each half of the hot foiled stamped image on to each half of the Art Deco tag. Adhere to the back of your photo, to the top and bottom using some double sided tape. 

17. Adhere ½ of your floral foiled die cut to the Art Deco column (curly die) and attach both to the back of the left side of your photo.

18. Attach some 3D foam tape to the reverse of your photo.

19. Adhere the second half of the foiled floral die cut to the back bottom edge of the Crashing Waves patterned paper.

20. Next attach your matted patterned papers to the layout as per the above photo.  Personally with this layout I found it easier to attach the patterned papers to the back of the photo and then attach the entire stack to the white cardstock.

21. Using the packet of gold pearls adhere to both the left and right sides of the Spiral Fan patterned paper. 

22. Adhere your flowers to the layout, glue down the tassel and add some sequins of your choice to the page if you choose.

23. FINISHED J

24. As this layout is designed to cover an array of different photos I did not choose a title for the page.  I will leave this up to you to add one should you choose. 

CELEBRATION CARD INSTRUCTIONS

1.     Cut a piece of chosen patterned paper to cover your card front, attach with glue or double side tape.

2.     Attach both the blue Art Deco Columns dies to the card front.

3.     Cut a piece of the white card approximately ¾” or 2cm to cover the seam of the two dies that your adhered to your card front.

4.     Mount the white cardstock strip on some 3D foam dots or 3D foam tape and attach to your card.

5.     Fussy cut the Art Deco tag hot foiled stamp and then adhere to some black cardstock from your kit.  Fussy cut around the foiled stamp to make a black mat. Adhere to the white cardstock strip using 3D foam tape or dots.

6.     From your 6x6” paper pad fussy cut the ‘celebration’ sentiment from the gold foiled papers at the back of the pad.  Adhere to the centre of the Art Deco tag foiled stamp.

              

BEST WISHES CARD INSTRUCTIONS

1.     Take the floral die cut with the doubled sided tape on the front and remove the paper.  Add some foil to the tape as you did in the layout.

2.     Adhere, off centre, to the back of the black floral die cut.

3.     Cut a 2” wide strip of chosen patterned paper and mat on some black cardstock. 

4.     From your 6x6” paper pad fussy cut the ‘best wishes’ tag from the gold foiled papers at the back of the pad. Add some 3D foam dots to the reverse.

5.     Taking the white card front we are now going to try another different technique using the GoPress and Foil machine.  We can foil using your existing dies.  This will put a nice fine detail on your card. Hot foil a geometric die to both the top and bottom of the card.

6.     Adhere your matted patterned paper to the centre in between the two foiled die images.

7.     Adhere the double floral die cuts to the left of the patterned papers.

8.     Add your sentiment next to the floral die cuts. 

9.Finally add some pearls to the centre of the floral die cuts and to the top and bottom along the foiled images of the geometric die.

Love | D-lish Scraps

Welcome back everyone,

So can someone tell where January went.  I am sure I blinked twice and it was gone.
My layout that I have done I loved the colour combination from the mood board from the January Cybercrop at The Scrap Suite on Facebook, and knew the photo I just had to use.
I can't believe that this March my husband and I will be married 9 years.  Crazy!!

 

To start I took a piece of white cardstock and with a heart stencil that I had from an old Just Add Paper kit using embossing paste to make a border.  Next I sprinkled it with gold embossing powder and once the paste was dry I heat set it with my heat gun.

I chose a couple of patterned papers from a Lemoncraft paper pad that I had that matched the photo.  The pinks matched the roses in my hair perfectly.  I inked the edged of the papers with gold ink before adhering them to my cardstock base. I mounted my photo on some 3D foam tape to add a little dimension.  

Finally I 'embellied' up my layout using the gorgeous magnolia flowers, poppies and a couple of other flowers from previous kits. I added a pip berry stem, a flair button and finally a gorgeous raw wood veneer word especially designed by Corbett Creations.

A New Year Begins

Hi Everyone

Well I hope January 2017 has already started beautifully for you and you have all been finding some time for yourselves and get some craft on.

I have been lucky to have some time to craft even though I have still been working full time and have been having fun getting messy with this layout that I have for you today on the blog.

I really wanted to keep my layout simple so that all the attention is on the photo.  

I really love gold black and red together and this photo of my niece at Chinese New Year celebrations in Melbourne worked brilliantly.

To start I mixed up some of the gold pigment powder in with the gloss texture paste.  I kept adding powder until I got the richness that I wanted.

I then just smeered it across my black cardstock with a palette knife and then set it aside to dry.

 Next I coloured up more of the texture paste with a red colour to match in with the photo.

 

I used the beautiful new 10x10" stencil from the new L'Aquarelle range called Loving Flourishes and applied the coloured up texture paste to sides of the cardstock overlapping the gold.

My next step was heat embossing my title in the Super Sparkles Gold embossing powder.  I double embossed it so make sure it was super sparkly. I also head embossed several wooden stars from my embellishment stash.

I wanted to add dimension behind my photo so I die cut two of the On the Edge die Rosey Ferns Footer in red.  I attached a piece of cardboard on the back of my photo and then added the dies to the back of the cardboard backing before gluing it down over the dried texture paste.

 

Finally I added the embossed title and stars around the page and  I was done.
