Christmas in July

Morning Morning Morning,

I can't believe that there is less than 6 months until Christmas. How crazy is that.  This is the time we all start planning for Christmas and what better way than having Couture Creations help you along the way with all your wonderful card making.
Couture have released their own range of Christmas paper which I have to say I fell in love with.  The tones are beautiful and I loved making cards with it so let me share with you what I have created.

To start I cut two pieces of cardstock.  One at 5x7 inches and one at 5x7.5 inches.  On the larger of the two pieces score at 3.5 inches from one edge of the card and then 0.5 of an inch from the other edge of the card. Along the small fold line attach 6mm double sided tape and attach of the bottom edge of the smaller piece.  Fold along the larger scoreline bringing it back down like the picture below. Select two coordinating pieces of the Couture Creations Christmas papers and cut to fit the inside 5x7 inch card and the front panel of 3.5x5 inch piece.

I love using the Couture Creations bulk flowers so I chose a couple for use on my card and took the Crystallina Gliztin' Glamour and blinged up the flowers then placed them to the side to dry whilst I created the rest of the card. Because I had run out of some of the smaller flowers I took one of the larger ones with the gold centres and cut it down to the size I needed for my card.

Using the Lacey Frames die from the Amaryllis Ornamental Lace collection I die cut the frames using one of the Glitter cardstock sheets from the Coredinations Glitter paperstack.  I then turned it into a frame but cutting out the inside for the die cut piece of cardstock.

I then attached the 3mm double sided tape to the reverse of the frame and after selecting one of the photos from the Christmas paper set attached it to the reverse of the frame.

I then mounted the die cut onto a coordinating piece of Coredinations stock.  Using the Couture Creations corner rounder I rounded the edges of the piece of cardstock and then inked the edges in a dark ink.  I then mounted this onto a piece of white cardstock and rounded the edges again.

Next take some 6mm double sided tape and attach a couple of strips to the bottom half of the mounted picture that we just created and attach if to the card base.

To finish I added some pearls to the card and attached the glitzed up flowers to the top of the card with a piece of organza ribbon and then added a sentiment on the inside of the card.

I thought I would also share a different variation of the card I made in some of the other papers from the Christmas stack. So quick and easy but very affective.

I hope you enjoy the other Christmas creations shown on the blog during July and hope that it motivates you all to create some magical cards and gifts for Christmas this year.

Treasure each Day

Welcome Back Everyone,
So glad you could join me again on the Couture Creations blog.  I am having so much fun being part of this wonderful Design Team, I am getting to create some beautiful projects.

When I started this project I had an idea in my head but the end result was so totally different.  I love the finished product.  I hope the beautiful lady I have made it for loves it too.

I fell in love with the Jocund Julie die from the Amaryllis Ornamental Lace Collection and what better way to use it than to create my own lace paper.  It is a smallish die and I needed to cut 25 to cover the sheet of cardstock that I chose to base the colour scheme on.

I located the centre of the piece of cardstock and one by one glued down each diecut working my way to the edges of the paper.  As there was a small edge left uncovered I grabbed a matching, slightly darker ink and inked all the edges to slightly soften the look. The dies matched together beautifully.

At the moment I really love using laces on my scrapbooking pages to give that real feminine look so found a wide crisp white piece and adhered it approximately 2/3 down the page. I then added contrasting edge to the top of the lace using the Simone's Style border die from the Amaryllis Ornamental Lace collection and adhered it to the top edge of the white lace, then added more dimension with a bit of bling.

From there it is was just about layering flowers and embellishments around the 5x7" photo that I mounted on 3D mounting tape. I added a slight pop of colour taking it through in to the title.

Wings of a Butterfly

Welcome back everyone, Anita E here on the blog today.
My card collection has been depleted somewhat of late so this is a start to building it back up again.
I have to admit when I put so much work into a card it generally goes to someone that I know will appreciate it very much and hopefully hang on to it, even for a little while.

I started off with a 6x6" card base and selected the Small Pansies sheet from the Hearts Ease paper pack. This I cut to 5 3/4" square.

Next, I then took the Victorian Rectange Nesting Dies and selected the 2nd largest die, positioning it on the printed paper and running it through the Bigshot.

Next, using the largest two dies, I cut a frame in another coordinating cardstock to match the print paper that I chose. If you have one of the magnetic platforms it definitely comes in handy when doing this as the dies stay in place and helps keep the frame even.

I used a selection of dies from the Vintage Rose, Everyday Essentials, Frames and Frills and Elegant Card Cuts Collections, cutting several of each.

I wanted a nice wide piece of lace to put on the card, but since I couldn't find one in my stash (and let me tell you my stash of lace and ribbon is HUGE!!), I decided on two rows of a narrower one and was happy with how it was going to look on the card.
Before adhering I had a bit of a play around with the die cuts to see what else was needed, and decided on one of the Couture Creations bulk flowers.

After playing with some different shades of inks my flower came up a treat.  It only needed a little blinging up with some Glitzin' Glamour to finish it off.  I also inked and blinged up the die cuts to soften the look.  All edges of the paper, frame and card base was inked as well.

I mounted the printed paper on 3D foam dots so that the embossed stamping inside the window really draws you in.
A few 2mm rhinestones edging the top of the lace and in the top right corner completed the look.
Everything was then adhered to the card base and WOOT WOOT, it was all finished.

I was very happy with the final result. I hope you like it too.

Treasure the Time

Hi  Guys

Back on the blog today with a quick and easy card that is still gorgeous.  The Hearts Ease paper collection is so pretty so you don't need to do to much with it to create some beautiful things.

I started with a 6" card base in a grape/purple cardstock that matched with the Hearts Ease paper collection. I selected three different prints from the Hearts Ease paper stack.  I chose the Pansy Rainfall as the larger piece, the reverse of the Pansy Border and Small Pansies. I mounted each one after cutting them to sizes that I like, on to a cream cardstock.  The cream cardstock was just showing behind each print.  This gave the card a bit more depth.

Place the mounted pieces on the largest mounted print (mine was just under 5 3/4" in size) in a way your like. I then chose a phrase from the Dragonfly Prases sheet from the paper stack and mounted it on the same colour as my card base.

Before attaching everythign to the base card grab a piece of matching ribbon and adhere to the card.  You can either tie a bow before attaching or to make it simpler attach the ribbon and then make a bow and glue down.

Mount your phrase on 3D dots and place over the ribbon near the bow.

Add some chipboard shapes from the Heart Ease collection that tie in with your title, and fussy cut a couple more bees from the Dragonfly Phrases paper... and then your done.
Easy simple and quick but still beautiful :)
